You can't win friends with salad
Jan. 5th, 2003 04:19 pmWell I'm back at UW. And glad to be so.
Living in the middle of nowhere was driving me crazy. I can't actually go anywhere unless I'm driven. Damn lack of license. I'm not sure how I'll survive the summer. Though my dad said I'm to get my license and they'd pay the extra insurance. Yay, except for the fact that they're turning in my mom's car (leaving us with one) so I'm still going to be stuck at most of the day. My dad works nights, my mom days, so there's only going to be this little window from about 4-8 PM that I'd actually be able to go anywhere. Yeah, that's a cause for celebration.
Went up to Seattle for New Year's Eve with friends. Stayed in a hotel. Had fun but it got a little lame when we didn't have anything to do after the fireworks at the space needle. Seattle at night is really not for those under 21. Sad waste of my money. This holiday really isn't much for the sober is it?
And now for amusing links all relating to LOTR:
The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins sung by Leonard Nimoy - God, how scary. I'm really glad I wasn't around in the 60s/70s when Hobbit love was like this.
Bad FOTR Captions - Seems old so it's probably well known but it's the first time I've seen it. Funny captions like: "I led Legolas into the hot of men's doomed" or Borimir saying: "My father is an elf man"
The Return of the King Protest - Parody of the Two Towers protest: A quote: "This website is the home of the organization protesting against the third installment of the J.R.R. Tolkien Lord Of The Rings movie being named "The Return of the King".
We feel the makers of the LOTR films are using the death of Elvis Presley as a marketing tool for their movie, and are petitioning to have the name changed. As stated elsewhere, this activity gives us an ego boost, a sense of purpose in our otherwise dull lives and above all... we hope it will get us chicks somehow."
I just got my LOTR extended DVDs to work on my computer. Somehow the problem was with the LOTR Extended DVDs, Sony's DVD-ROM drive's firmware and the default player that installs with the disc. And after watching the appendices, I love Dom and Billy even more. Hee, Tig. Now I'm going to be spending the next couple of days finishing the commentaries. 3 more to go. I want to finish before I get the Buffy S3 DVDs that should be appearing in my mailbox any day now.
Sadly enough though, classes start tomorrow.
