And I'm back. A day late, some dollars short. With a sunburn.

Man, a week without the internet. If this were some kind of TV show or book, I would have discovered millions of other enriching things to do so that upon its return, I would find that my life is already complete, and I don't need it anymore. But fuck that. Didn't happen. I just spent the week really bored, because Spanaway is just that dull.

Nothing really big happened. I watched a lot of DVDs. My parents decided to buy a big screen TV. Though I question the actual need for one (the nonmaterialist inside, who I didn't think existed, wonders, does anyone really need a 57 inch TV? Is your life made better by seeing the lifesized face of Peter Jennings as he reads the day's news? Or noticing that Sullivan, the big blue guy from Monsters Inc, is really hairy?) I find it hard to say no to seeing LOTR and Buffy on a big screen.

The highlight of the past week was my trip to Sol Duc Hot Springs Resort which resides in the Olympic National Park. Fun. Wet. Painful sunburn. Long drive (3 hours each way). It was sort of a surprise trip in that the friend who invited me didn't mention it for a while after asking and then popped it on me the evening before departure, which is why this entry says Wednesday instead of Tuesday. My friend's mom rented a small cabin (and by small, I mean, one room, two beds, and a bathroom) there for a couple of days.

As the name suggests, Sol Duc is home to hot springs. Very enjoyable, I'm sure, except when the temperature is in the high 80s and the water temperature is over 100. Could not sit in it for long. I also don't think I'm going to be able to eat boiled eggs for a while. Sulfur and relaxation are not mix-y things for me, apparently.

I don't think I'd recommend this place to anyone. Expensive for what amounts to a glorified camp out. (I actually a lot slept better in my sleeping bag on the Memorial day camping trip) I tried buying sunscreen, having stupidly forgetten mine, and I thought 5 dollars would be enough. Not even. It was $11.79 for a normal sized, Coppertone bottle. And there were too many horseflies and bees. They'd actually chase you.

Still, I had great fun. They had a nice pool to swim in. We rented a boat and went out on this wonderfully clear lake that was nearby. (I so want a cabin on it) Her mom cooked yummy Korean food. The scenery was gorgeous. Trees were everywhere. Sol Duc River is picturesque. And I saw deer.

So that was my week.

::eyes Friend's list and Fandom_wank:: Damn. When I had scanned my friend's list on Friday, it was already at skip=135. Now it's 315. And F_W? That place has been jumping. So much wank.

Yay. Things to catch up on.
