Music to my ears
Oct. 7th, 2002 05:59 pm*Whew* Busy day. First, I had my training thing. I now work at the espresso stand. Dude. Heh. Not a bad first start, today, though I haven't yet made a drink. I worked the register some and I can do the ones that appear on the buttons but some of the orders get complicated. At least I now know what double and single, latte and mocha mean. I got a uniform too, and it's not bad at all. Black polo with a small sewn red logo on the sleeve. I just need a lot more training because busy hours occur during my shift. And I am so not prepared to go it alone.
And, uh, less enthusiasm for tomorrow because I start work at 7 AM. Heh, though, this time I'll be the one to wake my roommate up, rather than the opposite. She gonna love my alarm at 5:00 AM. Fortunately, Tuesday seems to be the only day that starts at 7 AM. Though Megan did say that my schedule might change a bit next week.
And Yay. Most of my firefly thing finally downloaded. Over 800 MB downloading at 1-2 KB with the occasional 8-9 KB. I've been downloading it since Saturday. Though the first part is still giving me trouble. About 13 MB left and ::checks now:: damn, it's at -0.00 KB. Stupid uploading rates. ::hopes it finishes soon. The second part isn't the same without it::
Man, tired still. Walked up the Ave to near 47th Ave checking out some stores, intending to pick up some groceries. Still haven't found a place with actual groceries in walking distance, but I made do with Rite-Aid and Bartell. My arms were nearly falling off by the time I walked back to Mercer. Damn heavy cans and drinks. But the first thing that cheered me up is my new cable connector for my TV. First I didn't have one, then the one I got was really crappy. Out of over 50 channels, I got 5. Thank the gods one of them was UPN. But now, I get everything, clearly too. ::pets TV:: What amuses me is 2 or 3 of them are video feeds. I can now watch people crossing Red Square live. And if I ever need to know whether cars are crossing the bridge, I can find that too.
And hey, I have E! Now I can waste even more time watching trashy tv. Cable, what would college students do without you? Probably get better grades, but that's besides the point.
The second thing that greatly cheered me is that I finally got my Buffy CD! Yay! Finally. It's so pretty. I've been making do with the AOL stream of it (whole cd) but it's nice to just have it here. I'm still bitter about ordering it from deepdiscountcd because of their crappy shipping times when Rounder was delivering it only 3 dollars more than DDcd, included a small poster, and shipped it so that it arrived on the release date.
::playing it now::
Damn, it's like a ghost on my computer. First I let it open with Musicmatch, which apparently doesn't understand the meaning of different songs. Which is why it played "They got the mustard out" when I clicked going through the motions. I tried changing the cd player and it kept loading musicmatch no matter what. Now musicmatch isn't even open and it's still playing. I ctrl-alt-del things and there's no music player even open. And it's still playing. Dude. I will never understand computers. Though I could understand why it may have wanted to keep it running, since it is the OMWF soundtrack and all...
