Dec. 6th, 2002 08:59 pmWow. Just Wow.
Firefly is one of the best shows ever. This episode... Powerful (and oooouuuuuchhh!) but still managed to crack me up at times.
"Take me Sir. Take me hard" Delievered in Gina Torres' wonderful deadpan voice makes for hilarity.
First, how cool was it that Inara got to have a female client? And not bat an eye?
If it were up to me, this would be a regular occurance. Especially with the massage thing.
But man, after that, I was cringing through a good chunk of this episode. Cuz Ouch!! The torture scenes. I'm amazed that they got to show this much and that ME didn't seem to feel any qualms about putting their characters through it. I kept expecting a something to save them in the nick of time. It certainly made for drama. And the Ear! How Niska (or however you spell it) pondered that Zoe payed too much then casually cut off Mal's ear. Made things more even...
I liked how, when nearly everybody on the ship volunteered to help rescue Mal with weapons, everybody didn't become amazing dynamos. Simon, with his uh, skill. (Heh, Simon: "I never shot anyone before" Book: "I was there son, I'm fair sure you haven't shot anyone yet") It's so obvious Book has some secret past filled with killing and other sinful activities. Military or some secret service probably, and most likely on the Alliance side seein' as he hadn't mentioned it before.
Kaylee's inaction surprised me, but it makes sense. She is an innocent hometown girl, and killing people isn't exactly good times for small town folk. Though it was cool to see River take control and shoot three guys without looking. I'm really curious about how things will play out with Kaylee. She looked a tad bit ashamed as River glanced down with her "I'm top bitch" hat on.
I love Joss. And Firefly.
I will so boycott Fox if they cancel it.
I think I need a Firefly icon. Though to do that would require I get paid account. Maybe I'll do that.
